About Unreal Care

Trading as Unreal Care (“Unreal Care”, “we”, “us” or “our”), recruits personal carers and coordinates respectful, person-centred care and daily-living support in Victoria.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, hold, use, disclose and protect personal information. We are committed to handling personal information consistently with applicable privacy laws and requirements, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles, the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic), the Victorian Health Privacy Principles and applicable NDIS requirements.

Recruitment information

When you apply for a position, we may collect:

      • Your application answers and interview responses.
      • Your résumé, employment history and education.
      • Professional qualifications, licences, training and certificates.
      • Information about your availability, location and ability to meet the requirements of the role.
      • Australian residency or working-rights information.
      • Driver’s licence and vehicle information where relevant to the position.
      • References and information received from referees or former employers.
      • NDIS Worker Screening Check information and other relevant worker clearances.
      • Police-check or criminal-history information where reasonably necessary.
      • Information obtained during interviews, reference checks and screening activities.

Sensitive information

Some information collected during recruitment or support delivery may be classified as sensitive information. This may include:

      • Health, disability, medical and vaccination information.
      • Criminal-record information.
      • Information about a person’s support needs, mobility, medication or personal care.

Where lawful and practicable, you may contact us without identifying yourself or by using a pseudonym. However, we will need your correct identity to assess an employment application, verify screening requirements or provide safe and appropriate support.

If you give us information about another person, you must have their permission or another lawful basis for doing so.

 

Why we collect and use personal information

We may collect, hold and use personal information to:

      • Respond to enquiries and communicate with you.
      • Assess and process applications for employment or contract work.
      • Arrange interviews and conduct reference or background checks.
      • Verify identity, qualifications, working rights and required clearances.
      • Assess suitability for personal-care and support roles.
      • Contact applicants regarding the progress of an application.
      • Onboard and manage workers and contractors.
      • Provide, coordinate and improve personal-care and support services.
      • Develop care arrangements, rosters and support plans.
      • Protect the health, safety, privacy and dignity of people receiving support.
      • Manage incidents, complaints, safeguarding and workplace-safety matters.
      • Meet legal, insurance, regulatory, employment and NDIS obligations.
      • Maintain business, employment, financial and service records.
      • Operate, secure and improve our website and technology systems.
      • Detects or prevents fraud, misuse, security threats or unlawful activity.

We will not use application information for unrelated marketing without your consent.

 

Job applications and screening documents

Information submitted through our application form will be used primarily to assess your suitability for a position and to meet relevant safety, screening and compliance requirements.

Application information may be reviewed by Matthew, his authorised representative and authorised members of the Unreal Care recruitment or support team.

Sensitive documents will only be accessed by people who need them for recruitment, verification, safety or compliance purposes. Where practicable, we will verify a clearance or certificate without retaining a complete copy.

Submitting an application does not guarantee employment or engagement.

If you do not provide information marked as required, we may be unable to assess or continue processing your application.

 

Disclosure of personal information

We may disclose personal information where reasonably necessary to:

      • Matthew and authorised members of his recruitment or support team.
      • Employees, contractors and authorised representatives of Unreal Care.
      • Referees, former employers and recruitment providers.
      • Worker-screening, police-check and identity-verification providers.
      • Website hosting, form-processing, email, cloud-storage and IT providers.
      • Healthcare professionals or emergency services where necessary.
      • Professional advisers, accountants, insurers, auditors and legal representatives.
      • Government agencies, courts, law-enforcement bodies or regulators.
      • The NDIA or NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission where applicable.
      • Another person where you have consented or directed us to do so.

We do not sell or rent personal information.

We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law, or where reasonably necessary to prevent or respond to a serious threat to health or safety.

 

Overseas disclosure

Some technology, email, cloud-storage, website or form-processing providers may store or process personal information outside Australia.

Where personal information is disclosed to an overseas recipient, we will take reasonable steps required by applicable Australian privacy law to protect that information.

 

Storage and security

Personal information may be stored in electronic systems, email accounts, secured servers, cloud services and, where applicable, physical records.

We take reasonable steps appropriate to the sensitivity of the information to protect it from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These measures include restricting access to authorised people, password-protecting systems, applying appropriate user permissions, selecting reputable service providers and securely disposing of records when no longer required.

No internet transmission or electronic-storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. If you believe information you provided to us has been compromised, please contact us immediately.

 

Retention and deletion

We retain personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected or as required by law.

Unless you agree to longer retention, an unsuccessful application will normally be retained for no longer than 12 months after the relevant position is filled. Sensitive screening documents may be deleted sooner once verification is complete, unless retaining them is legally required.

Successful applications may become part of the worker’s personnel records and will be retained in accordance with applicable employment and record-keeping requirements.

Health and support records will be retained for the periods required under Victorian health-record and other applicable laws.

When information is no longer required, we will take reasonable steps to securely destroy or permanently de-identify it.

 

Cookies and external services

Our website may use essential cookies and similar technologies to operate forms, maintain security and provide website functionality.

If website analytics, embedded media or other third-party services are enabled, those providers may collect technical information and set their own cookies. Their handling of information will be governed by their respective privacy policies.

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please send a written complaint to our Privacy Officer and include:
